Eco-Lifestyle Talk and Soap-bar Workshop Held for 30 participants

Promoting Sustainable Lifestyles Through Knowledge and Practical Experience

(Hong Kong, 17 January 2026) — organised by Surein Foundation, assisted by the Hong Kong Allergy Association, the “Eco‑Lifestyle Talk and Handmade Soap-bar Workshop “was successfully held. The event aimed to enhance public awareness of environmental protection and healthy living while encouraging participants to adopt allergen‑free and low‑waste lifestyle choices through practical hands‑on experience. A total of 30 people took part, contributing to a warm and engaging atmosphere.

The event commenced with an eco‑lifestyle seminar that addressed major environmental challenges currently faced in Hong Kong, including air pollution, waste‑management pressures and the ecological impacts of rapid urbanisation. The seminar also explored the close relationship between environmental quality and allergy issues, noting that common allergens such as dust mites, pollen and mould are strongly linked to living conditions. Speakers encouraged participants to choose natural, low‑additive personal care products and apply the five R principles of environmental protection — Refuse, Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Repair — in their daily lives to promote sustainability.

The workshop that followed allowed participants to experience the full process of making natural handmade soap bars. Under professional guidance, attendees learnt essential techniques including weighing oils, preparing lye solution and blending the mixture until it reached the “trace” stage. Participants also selected ingredients tailored to their individual skin needs. Many shared that they had not only acquired practical soap-bar‑making skills, but also gained deeper awareness of product ingredients, waste‑reduction practices and strategies for managing sensitivities.

The event effectively integrated environmental concepts, health education and practical skill‑building, inspiring participants to make more conscious choices in their daily consumption. By reducing chemical additives and plastic use at the source, the public were encouraged to take further steps towards a greener lifestyle. The organisers expressed their commitment to continuing environmental education initiatives to further support Hong Kong’s sustainable development.

Upon completion of the workshop, participants volunteered to wrap and pack allergen- free soap-bars, which will be distributed as souvenirs at Surein Foundation’s 8th Anniversary Celebration Ceremony to be held on 31 January 2026.
