The AI Green Wave “Carbon Reduction, We Can Do It” Student Participation Award Scheme 2026 Recognition Ceremony, jointly organised by Y's Men International - Southeast Asia Region, Surein Foundation, The Lam Foundation, and Yuen Long Town Hall, was successfully held on Friday, 29 May 2026 at Yuen Long Town Hall.
This year’s programme received an enthusiastic response, with over 1,650 kindergarten and primary school students actively taking part. The initiative integrates artificial intelligence (AI) with environmental education, encouraging young people to connect with nature by observing the plants and trees they encounter in their daily lives. Through photography, drawing, and simple AI-assisted creative work, participants recorded aspects of the natural environment. They also used AI databases to identify plant names, functions (where applicable), and their roles in reducing carbon emissions, which were then documented in their submission forms and assessed for ranking. The programme aims to enhance awareness of environmental protection and carbon reduction, while nurturing a new generation that values both technology and sustainability.
The ceremony was lively and well attended, with over 150 guests, including dignitaries, school principals, teachers, award-winning students, and parents, gathering to celebrate the students’ outstanding achievements. The quality of entries this year was impressive, with students demonstrating careful observation, rich creativity, and effective use of AI tools to present diverse environmental themes. Their work also reflected early exploration of how smart technologies can contribute to sustainable development. Award recipients demonstrated exceptional performance and fully deserved their recognition.
