Nurturing Young Leaders, Deepening Environmental Awareness and Cultural Heritage
23 Students Immersed in Yunfu and Jiangmen to Develop Environmental and Sustainable Leadership Skills (Part 1)
Organized by Surein Foundation, the "Jiangmen Cultural History and Yunfu Eco-Farming Leadership Training Study Tour" was successfully held from November 8 to 10, 2025. The team from Queen's College Old Boys' Association Secondary School stood out among numerous participating schools with their exceptional performance and was selected as the recipient of the "Surein Foundation Sustainable Development Leadership Scholarship." A total of 23 teachers and students took part in the event. The itinerary centered around the "Surein Green Farm" as the core training base, providing an immersive cultural experience and hands-on environmental practices. This deepened the young participants' understanding of cultural heritage and sustainable development while further honing their teamwork and leadership skills.
Day 1: Tracing the Cultural Roots of the Hometown, Enhancing Cultural Confidence
The teachers and students visited the " China Qiaodu Museum of Overseas Chinese." Through its extensive collections and historical materials, the students gained an in-depth understanding of Jiangmen's development as a significant hometown for overseas Chinese and the spirit of perseverance among Chinese communities. This experience strengthened their sense of identity and mission toward their cultural roots.
Day 2: Competing in Knowledge and Physical Challenges, Refining Team Leadership
The focus of the second day was on teamwork and environmental practices. The students were divided into three groups, each assigned leadership tasks with different themes. They presented and evaluated their outcomes through a quiz competition, effectively enhancing their communication, expression, and problem-solving skills. Subsequently, the "Eco-Themed Orienteering Competition" allowed students to apply their learning in the farm setting, combining physical activity with environmental knowledge, truly achieving the training goal of "learning through action."
