In line with the concept of the "International Day for Biological Diversity," Surein Foundation organized the "Sai Kung Hoi Ha Wan Marine Park and Rural Conservation Guided Tour."

To mark May 22 as the "International Day for Biological Diversity" and promote public awareness of Hong Kong's precious and beautiful natural ecology and rural conservation, Surein Foundation held the "Sai Kung Hoi Ha Wan Marine Park and Rural Conservation Guided Tour" last weekend (May 24, 2025). Dr. Wong Fuk-yee, former Assistant Director of the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department, not only led the tour but also provided participants with detailed notes and maps. Staff from the Environmental Protection Department gave a presentation on marine conservation, highlighting the biodiversity value of Hong Kong's eastern waters. Mr. Au Yin-shan, Vice Chairman of Friends of Country Parks, and staff from Surein Foundation assisted with explanations along the way. At the "Hoi Ha Visitor Centre" and the "Hoi Ha Wan Marine Life Centre," guides from the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department and the Biodiversity Foundation used specially designed games to help participants explore the ecological treasures of Hoi Ha Wan Marine Park!

The tour focused on the Hoi Ha Visitor Centre, Hoi Ha Village, Hoi Ha Wan Marine Life Centre, and the coastal cultural and ecological features. Key topics included coral communities, intertidal biodiversity, the "coastal guardian" mangroves, the vibrant Hoi Ha Village, and the well-preserved lime kiln. Participants were divided into two groups to examine the importance of "balancing conservation" and "sustainable development" from different perspectives.

The Surein Foundation has been actively promoting environmental education in the community. This event was the 10th free environmental education project of the year. The activity was partially sponsored by the District Council's "Environment and Conservation Fund," for which the foundation extends its gratitude!
